RIVERSIDE – In advance of moving its Southern California headquarters to Riverside in 2021, the California Air Resources Board will celebrate the signing of cooperative agreements with three local educational organizations at the SoCal AltCar Expo opening Wednesday, Oct. 16 at the Riverside Convention Center.

CARB Chairman Mary Nichols will be signing Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with representatives from the Riverside Unified School District, Riverside Community Colleges and the University of California, Riverside pledging to work with faculty and students of each organization to advance research and inspire students at all levels to learn more about air quality, the impacts of climate change, and CARB’s efforts to clean the air.

WHO: CARB Chairman Mary Nichols, CARB Board Member Barbara Riordan, Senator Richard Roth, Assembly Members Jose Medina and Sabrina Cervantes, Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey, and representatives from the Riverside Unified School District, Riverside Community Colleges and the University of California, Riverside. Also attending:  Riverside County District Supervisors Kevin Jeffries, Karen Spiegel, V. Manuel Perez, and Jeff Hewitt.

WHAT: The parties will sign three cooperative agreements committing to foster programs and activities that will build relationships between CARB and the University of California Riverside, the Riverside Community College District and the Riverside School District to engage students and encourage interest in learning about environmental issues, particularly air quality.
