Mildred Enterprises, LLC, dba Steady Garage, Settles For $53,262

In June 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Mildred Enterprises, LLC, dba Steady Garage (Steady Garage), with its principal location in Duarte, California, in the amount of $53,262 for the company’s violation of CARB’s air quality regulations.

An investigation conducted by CARB staff revealed that Steady Garage advertised, sold, offered for sale, or installed non-exempted add-on or modified aftermarket parts for on- or off-highway vehicles that modify a California vehicle's emission control system, and uncertified engines that could be used in a small off-road engine (SORE) application. CARB documented violations as they related to the Aftermarket Parts Regulation (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 13, §§ 2220-2225 and 2472-2476) and SORE Regulation (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 13, §§ 2400-2409).

To settle the case, Steady Garage agreed to the penalty of $29 per violation for a total of $53,262. Terms of the settlement include a requirement for Steady Garage to implement a compliance plan, add disclaimers to the advertisements of all non-exempt aftermarket parts advertised, sold, or offered for sale in California, and to comply with all other CARB regulations going forward. Steady Garage cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter and to stop further sales of illegal aftermarket parts and engine into California.

Of the total amount, $26,631 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. The remaining amount of $26,631 will fund the Supplemental Environment Project (SEP) entitled Fresno TREES / with Tree Fresno. This SEP provides tree planting along roads to help eliminate pollution exposure and sequester carbon.
