Aiken Chemical Company, Inc. Settles For $3,000
In August 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Aiken Chemical Company, Inc. (Aiken), with its principal location in Greer, South Carolina, in the amount of $3,000 for Aiken’s violation of CARB’s air quality regulations.
An investigation conducted by CARB staff disclosed that Aiken sold, supplied, and offered for sale in California, a consumer product that did not meet administrative requirements specified in the California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 94512(b). To settle the case, Aiken agreed to a penalty for a total of $3,000 for selling a consumer product that lacked a date of manufacture.
The $3,000 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. Aiken fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter. To come into compliance, Aiken has relabeled this product to include a date of manufacture, and an explanation for the date of manufacture has been submitted to CARB.
