Background
California is a leader in efforts to improve public health through cleaner air and has also become a leader in the fight to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions accelerating climate change worldwide. Specifically, California’s Clean Car regulations and ZEV mandate have helped drive innovation and investment in the critical area of ZEV technology. The leaders gathered at this Summit will review progress so far and discuss means of accelerating development of these vehicles in the context of Governor Brown’s Executive Order 3-23-2012 which mandates that 1.5 million ZEVs be on California’s roads by 2025, and California’s recent 8 state Memorandum of Understanding to put a minimum of 3.3 million ZEVs on the road nationally by the same date.
