Figure S5. This Figure is the graphic outputs of the model HYbrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory (HYSPLIT) trajectories at 100 (red line), 500 (blue line), and 1000 (green line) meters above ground level (AGL) illustrate the three-dimensional paths traveled by air parcels to the Madera site (36.867°N, 120.010°W) on April 20, 2018 with hourly peak ozone level of about 100 ppb. Accessed December 25, 2019; NOAA website has all the information about running Hysplit. The HYSPLIT model can be run interactively on the READY web site available at https://www.arl.noaa.gov/hysplit/hysplit/. This User's Guide provides detailed instructions in setting up the model, modifications to the Control file to perform various simulations and output interpretation; available at https://www.arl.noaa.gov/documents/reports/hysplit_user_guide.pdf The basic trajectory calculation consists of three steps: setup, run, and display. 1. To start a new trajectory calculation, from the top bar of the main menu select Trajectory / Setup Run which will open a menu with multiple entry options. 2. The Trajectory setup menu is used to enter information, such as the starting time on the first line. (2100 UTC 20 April 2018). 3. On the second line change the number of starting locations to 1 and then press the Setup starting locations button to open a new window where you should now enter the latitude and longitude at a starting height of 100 meters above ground level. 4. Now the model simulation can be started from the Trajectory / Run model menu tab. 5. As the model is running a progress message percent complete is displayed. Do not try to Exit this window until the calculation is complete or a beep is heard indicating a premature stop. 6. By default, all calculations take place within the \hysplit\working directory. The calculation created the trajectory endpoints file tdump. To turn this ASCII file into a graphic, open the Trajectory / Display / Trajectory menu. 7. Pressing the Execute Display menu button will run the trajplot program and then open the Ghostscript viewer to display the trajectory graphic.
