Deere & Company Settles For $99,905
In June 2023, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Deere & Company (Deere), with its principal location in Moline, Illinois, in the amount of $99,905 for the company’s violations of the Evaporative Emission Requirements for Off-Road Equipment Regulation (Evaporative Emissions Regulation), as codified in the California Code of Regulations, title 13, sections 2750-2774.
An investigation conducted by CARB staff revealed that Deere failed to obtain CARB certification for 377, model year 2021-2022, residential lawn and garden tractors sold in California in violation of the Evaporative Emissions Regulation.
The settlement amount will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. Deere fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter, and to stop further sales of illegal equipment powered by small off-road engines into California. Deere has implemented an updated compliance process to ensure future compliance with CARB’s programs.
