Fidelity Roof Company Settles For $10,500
Fidelity Roof Company, of Oakland, California, will pay $10,500 in penalties for violating California Air Resources Board (CARB) air quality regulations. The $10,500 will go to CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. This settlement was reached in March 2021.
An investigation conducted by CARB, in response to an Area Focused Investigation into the City of Oakland, showed that Fidelity Roof Company failed to meet the applicable smoke testing requirements for most of the heavy-duty diesel vehicles in their fleet. CARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 13 § 2190 et seq.). To settle the case, Fidelity Roof Company agreed to the penalty of $500 per PSIP violation for a total of $10,500.
Terms of the settlement include a requirement for Fidelity Roof Company to attend a smoke-test training course, submit PSIP tests for the entire applicable fleet for calendar years 2020 and 2021, and to comply with all other CARB regulations going forward.
