Tadano America Corporation Settles For $3,750
In August 2021, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Tadano America Corporation (Tadano), based in Houston, Texas, for Tadano’s violation of the State’s “Motor Vehicle Pollution Control Devices” Regulation (Vehicle Standards). The full penalty amount of $3,750 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
CARB was made aware of the issue by a member of the public, and following an investigation by CARB staff, it was discovered that Tadano had violated the Vehicle Standards by selling, delivering, and introducing into commerce, one new motor vehicle or motor vehicle engine into California without obtaining a CARB‑issued Executive Order (EO). As part of this settlement, the noncompliant engine was replaced with a new engine that obtained a CARB EO under Cal. Code Regs., tit. 13, § 1954.8(f). Through the company’s diligence and cooperation with CARB, the vehicle has been brought into compliance. Further, Tadano understands the CARB EO process and will prevent any future noncompliance.
